July 2022 Edition
On Sunday we started with watering & dug holes ready to plant field scabious.
On Friday we watered again as we had the hottest day ever, 40 degrees!
Field scabious will have a purple flower which butterflies and bees will visit.
Tiny poppies were planted in the sunshine.
Using a guide we searched for nine flowers in the patch and found them all!
We then got ready to explore the reserve and park meadow for other plants that will attract wildlife.
We found hazel nuts and lots of leaves eaten by caterpillars.
We caught sight of small blue butterflies that lay their eggs on birds foot trefoil.
…and discovered just how beautiful grasses can be.
For our Sunday session we brought back grasses & caterpillar leaves to create a Nurture and Grow sign...
...adding other bits of nature’s flotsam & using paint spray…
Once dry, we peeled off the leaves and grasses to uncover wonderful shapes.
Then on Friday we created clay tiles which will spell out ‘OUR NATURE AND GROW PATCH’.
