June 2022 Edition
It's June and the patch is growing tall and green.
Red campion continues to flower but is now turning to seed.
We have also noticed a plant that has grown very large. It's burdock with leaves as big as our hands!
We planted birdsfoot trefoil, meadow cranesbill, ladies bedstraw, yellow toadflax, knapweed, betony and cowslip.
Next pond dipping…
We spent time exploring the pond and collecting interesting creatures living amongst the pond weed.
including this baby newt.
After releasing everything back into the water, we watched for dragonflies darting across the pond.
Back at the patch we created our own dragonflies with beads and frogs from paper plates.
